Postdoctoral Fellows

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS IN CLINICAL CHILD PSYCHOLOGY

Drs. Amori Mikami (University of British Columbia) and Sébastien Normand (Université du Québec en Outaouais) are beginning a 5-year, CIHR-funded, dual-site project testing a novel psychosocial treatment training parents to be friendship coaches for their elementary school-aged children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). They are seeking a postdoctoral fellow who would work at the University of British Columbia site (Vancouver, BC, Canada) and would be most directly supervised by Dr. Mikami. The position will begin in the summer or fall of 2016 for a minimum of 1 year and a total length of time that can be discussed. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

The ideal candidate will have received his/her PhD in clinical psychology by the start date, including completion of clinical internship. The postdoctoral fellow should have experience providing behavioral treatments to families of children with disruptive behavior disorders such as ADHD. The postdoctoral fellow will have significant opportunities to get involved in research and publications with this dataset and other existing datasets collected by Dr. Mikami, and should be interested in research about peer and family relationships in children with ADHD, and psychosocial interventions. The postdoctoral fellow will also be able to obtain enough direct service supervised clinical hours to become licensed/registered as a psychologist, for instance by conducting clinical assessments or treatment groups for the trial. There are opportunities for the postdoctoral fellow to teach in the University of British Columbia clinical psychology graduate program if desired.

University of British Columbia hires on the basis of merit and is committed to employment equity. All qualified persons are encouraged to apply. Candidates need not be Canadian citizens to apply. As well, clinical hours accumulated are typically transferrable towards licensure outside of Canada. Vancouver is located on the Pacific Ocean on the west coast of Canada near the United States border, and is a metropolitan city of approximately 2.5 million people.

To apply, please email cover letter and CV (including names of three references) to Dr. Amori Mikami at mikami@psych.ubc.ca. Questions about the position may also be directed to Dr. Mikami. Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until filled.
